The goal of Gnoetics™ is the advancement of the state-of-the-art in Natural Language Processing (NLP) and its applications in clinical medicine.
Gnoetics (Greek for "source of knowledge") provides consulting and contracting services for Automated Abstracting and Computer Assisted Coding (CAC) of clinical documentation. Chief Scientist Daniel T. Heinze, Ph.D. has been a primary force behind the technical development and market acceptance of clinical Natural Language Processing (NLP) and CAC. Prior to Gnoetics, he was co-founder and Chief Technology Officer of A-Life Medical® (now part of OptumInsight®) from its inception in 1996. He is the architect of the LifeCode® and Adios® clinical document Optical Character Recognition (OCR) system and is first named inventor on the patented A-Life technology (US Patents 6,915,254, 7,908,552, 7,949,538 et al.) and author of numerous publications on CAC. Previously, Dr. Heinze was co-founder and director of The Pennsylvania State University / Raytheon® joint Center for Intelligent Information Processing leading the research and development of projects for the Defense Advanced Research Projects Administration (DARPA), the Department of Defense (DoD) and the intelligence community.
Gnoetics provides consulting and educational services to clarify the sometimes mysterious world of NLP to prospective users. Additionally, we provide technical solutions and contracting services to a select clientele who have the necessary culture and foundation. We help them to make significant advances in the science, technology, application and dissemination of computational linguistics in medicine.
